I was just wondering when everyone was diagnosed.
flagbabyds
i think it is interesting because everyone is diagnosed at different times and when i did my science fair most people were diagnosed inbetween 20-40 and i want to know when everyone else was dx
jhmom
I answered for me but also wanted to let you know that my daughter was dx when she was 8 (it wouldn't let me vote twice).

Hi, I'm new to the forum. My name is Emily, and I'm almost a sophmore in college. I'm from Kansas, but am going to school in Rexburg, Idaho. I was diagnosed a week or two into my senior year of high school, so I was 17. I turn 19 in two days, so it's been almost 2 years since I found out I had Celiac.

Hi, Emily! I'm almost 40, just diagnosed, and living in Southeast Kansas. What part of Kansas are you from?
byuiemily
I'm from Topeka, born and raised there. Where in Kansas are you at?
plantime
Between Pittsburg and Columbus. I love this state!

I haven't actually been diagnosed with celiac..
But i was diagnosed with a gluten intolerance a year ago, so i would've been 16.

I’m 45 now, and became very sick with celiac disease around the age of 43, after contracting some virus in Vermont. Before 43 I suffered with mild symptoms. I positively diagnosed my celiac disease by completely eliminating wheat, barley, and rye from my diet. I later eliminated the possibility of parasites by personally having lab test run on my stools and blood (in Mexico where health care is NOT based on greed).

I have made a 100% recovery from celiac disease, but now am struggling with all the side effects of being sick for so many years. The malnutrition from celiac disease did a lot of damage to my body.

Hey, she gave me older than teen options so I took it! rolleyes.gif I'm 44, back in college full-time (masters) huh.gif ; diagnosed at 42. hindsight shows it's been active most of my life (enameless teeth!) biggrin.gif
Carriefaith
I was officially diagnosed around my 23rd birthday. I think it was several days before my birthday!

This is a really old thread, recently revived. I wasn't a teen even when it was started. My official diagnosis was given to me two days after my 46th birthday. I'm 52 now. So, at the moment: I am 15 with 37 years of experience. laugh.gif My first post here, in 2004, was also in response to a poll by Molly.

I was 42 when diagnosed, I'm 60 now ... that's 15 with 45 years of experience laugh.gif I love that Peter.

Ha, I'm a dork. Diagnosed at 20 (not 22)... I'm 22, which gives me two whole years experience (in a few more months).

Wow--this is an old thread! biggrin.gif

I was diagnosed in June of 2005 at age 49. I had symptoms from about the age of 30.

Shirley and Peter--I'm not sure, what does that make me? unsure.gif

We were diagnosed June 06 through enterolab.

I voted for me.......39 at diagnosis......40 now.

Children at the time of testing were 6 1/2 and 3 3/4. Youngest hasn't been tested but gluten's a problem with him. His reaction started at 2 1/2 months.
2Boys4Me
I voted for Ty (between ages 5 - 10) he was diagnosed about 3 months before his sixth birthday. He's the only one of us with a diagnosis.

(As for me, I'm 29 with 11 years experience tongue.gif .)

I'm 14 and found out when i was like 11... do you guys think it would be harder to of had gluten all your life and have to give up or resist the curiosity FOREVER! I think I have it pretty easy... I know what it tastes like but still am young enough to "release' the habit i guess.
Kara B.
I was diagnosed when i was 14. That was about a year ago. i wish i would have found this site sooner. after a year i have learned a lot and it would have been easier if i had found the site.
Kara B.
Lizzie i dont no if i agree that it is easier 2 give up gluten after having eaten it. once u no wut it tastes like, then u cant forget. i think it would be easier if i had been eating gluten free since i was really little.
Liz92
Ya, that makes sense.... but I think that after a while your taste buds "dull" because I remember that when I wasn't cel. I had this glutenfree store bought bread and it tasted HORRIBLE but now its not so bad... I dunno. Maybe I'm JUst special.. tongue.gif
Kara B.
I dunno maybe ur rite bout the fact that u get used 2 it Lizzie. i still dont realy like gluten-free bread. but there r things that i hav gotten used 2.
jayhawkmom
Not really voting... because I count for 4 people. =)

1. 5 year old daughter (dx at 4) in June, 2006

2. Myself - dx in Sept of 06 - at 36.

3. 8 year old son - dx 1.17.07

4. 17 month old son - gluten free in October, 06. However, pediatrician is convinced we are missing something...and ran a panel last week. Results from Mayo Clinic are pending.
