Hello all! I'm looking for people in the North Shore area of SouthEastern Louisiana. The following parishes are welcome: St. Tammany (where meetings will mostly be held), Tangiphoa, Washington, Livingston, Pearl River County, MS and other surrounding parishes of Louisiana and MS. Most meetings will be held in St. Tammany as that is where all current members live thus far but other arrangements can be made or referrals to chapters closer to your home can be given. This is an exciting group for those with celiac disease to socialize with other celiac disease's, or for ppl who have family or friends with celiac disease. Information, support, recpies, helpful hints and ideas are the focus of our group as well as educating the community about celiac disease as to lessen the difficulty we have seen in getting properly diagnosed. If you are at all interested in joining this group please post here or email me. Or join my yahoo group solely designed for this chapter:
northshoreceliacgroup-subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Or u can check my email and chapter status by going to www.csaceliacs.org, click on Local Support and clicko n the state of Louisiana. My chapter is Louisiana North Shore, Chapter 125!

Thank you, and happy GLUTEN FREE eating!!
Amy

We certainly welcome ppl from the Southshore but there is already a group in Metairie who might better serve you. There is also one in Baton Rouge according to the csa website. If you wish to join us, you are more than welcome and are certainly not required to attend every meeting. Meetings will be about once every 4-6 weeks as members see fit. Most meetings will probably be held in Slidell or Mandeville area. (PRobably Slidell at first as that is where I, the chairperson, live.) If you wish to still join this group, please reply to this post. For more info about the Jefferson group go to www.csaceliacs.org click on Local Support. Click on LA. It will list the chapters and contact info for the group in Metairie. I have no idea how active they are since Katrina. Best of luck! Amy, Chairperson Chapter 125

Hi,

I'm newish to the Northshore and just ran across this old post by accident. I was searching for a gluten-free restaurant or menu and a link popped up to this forum. I live in BelAir in Slidell and would love to attend meetings or even host one some day. I am in desperate need of peers!

No one (well, most of them) in my large Italian family understands, they will actually encourage me to eat garlic bread or things fried with breadcrumbs....because "Just a little can't hurt." They do not take Celiac seriously at all.

Help!

Thanks so much,

Debbie
