I have not been diagnosed with Celiac disease but I have been getting blisters on my buttocks for 8 years, I have seen 4 'specialists' and as I have Rheumatoid Arthritis every doctor says its something to do with that...well I did a detox in January omitting all gluten, suger etc from my diet and my blisters cleared up within 2 weeks.... I then started researching for a connection and found DH. I alway got my blisters when going on holiday, in USA I ate bagels every morning for breakfast and just suffered so badly, (my doctor said it was fear of flying that caused the blisters!) well to test my theory I ate no bagels for 3 months..no blisters...then 3 days ago I had one and today I have a cluster of blisters. Does anyone else only get the blisters with certain gluten foods? I have also had the blisters on my ears and elbows, but mainly buttocks, its so embarrassing I feel like a leper.

You need to be tested for celiac disease. Go see a Gastroenterologist doctor as soon as possible.

Yup I agree, go get tested...or have them test the blisters themselves!!! That is where I got them as well and still do if I get CC'd!!!

Note: You need to be eating gluten for the tests!

Good Luck and I hope you find some answers!

Good advice however make sure the doctor is well versed in DH. You need to biopsy the area next to the blisters, not the blisters themselves or you will get a false negative. If you have an active blister you would not have to be eating gluten specially for the biopsy but you do need to be consuming it actively for blood testing and endoscopic biopsies. Even then there is a risk of a false negative.
