DH discovered today that one brand of Japanese curry roux will go gluten-free. Increasingly there are Japanese children's foods that are being made gluten-free. One of them is the Curry no Ojisama brand curry roux. It has always come in a small blue box and the new gluten-free version is supposed to be in red packaging. It is smaller in portion and more mild than it's grown up counterparts but will be nice to have back all the same. Who knows if or when it will make it to the states(currently the blue box is available here) but I'll be keeping an eye out for it.
EDIT:Please read my response to Ken's post before purchasing this product. I have not provided a complete translation of the allergen information. It is an exciting discovery but requires further, careful investigation.

and have gone back to recheck. Many on that page are wheat-free and interestingly they are using sorghum, but we have e-mailed the company to ask further questions about carmel color and gluten just to be sure. I'll let you know what we find out.
with no problem! It has four sticks of powder, like the ones dashi comes in. It's made for kids so is very mild in flavor and doesn't thicken up as much as the roux cubes we're used to. I added some salt and pepper. I'm enjoying it more out of nostalgia than anything.
