I've been sulphite sensitive since I was a kid. Many things have sulphites (including naturally occuring ones). Try some other things and see how you feel. Do you react to wine? Other dried fruit? Pretty much anything with dried onions in it?
I am so allergic to sulphites I have had anaphalatic (sp) shock in the past. I am allergic also sula, sulfates, and all sulfur derivatives. These allergies eliminate all pain medications and I have arthritis up and down my spine. I have Fibromyalgia. I am in lots of pain all the time, and can't have pain meds. None of my doctor's will prescribe pain meds because of my allergies.
No doctor will give me any medicines. I have been discovered to have NASH (non -alcohol inflammation fatty liver disease) and must go on insulin. I have been assure the new insulins have no sulphites in them.
I had chest pain from drinking wine and it was because of the sulphites. I no longer touch any alcohol and haven't for years. Now because of NASH, I can't have anything that will cause NASH to do further damage to my liver. So there is no medication going to be given that can affect my liver, can ever be taken.
I have problems with glutten, I am in the testing faze. I have problem with popcorn, and all starch products, so far.
The testing goes on.
Hugs all
