Hello all ! I am new to the forum. I am 26 years old and I recently had my blood work done from my neurologist. Some how this Gliadin test was added and we had no clue why or how. Ironicly my grandma a day later was diognosed with Celiac. My results for the Gliadin test were Gliadin IGG AB 133.5 when it is supposed to be <45, but the Gliadin IGA was 4.5 (normal range) and is supposed to be <45.Also the Endomysial Antibodies test was negative. I am waiting patiently for my doctor to call me with these results to discuss, but she does not like to return my calls. If you are wondering I work for a OB/GYN office and I was able to get my results sent there. I was hoping someone can help me to understand what this all means. Do i have celiac? or am I just a carrier? If someone can please get back to me .

An elevated IgG AGA doesn't necessarily mean Celiac. Though, it's certainly associated with it. I had similar test results. My IgG AGA was 69 - and less than 11 is considered within range. My IgA AGA was 6, less than 11 is within range. Did they run tTg antibodies as well? I'm assuming no, since you didn't post results for that.
If definitely looks as though you have some "leaky gut" issues. Whether or not you *have* Celiac, I certainly can't tell you, and I don't think those blood tests can tell you, conclusively. But, it does seem as if you are dealing with gluten intolerance.

Thank you so much for your reply. It is just very frustrating that my Doctor doesnt feel the need to return my calls to explain what I should do. Do you know what the next step after the blood work would be? I have been reading that alot of people had biopsys. Is that a easy procedure? I am in the medical field and I understand alot of complicated things, but I cant seem to understand this. I have been reading alot and the only symptoms I have are: Really bloated after I eat bread and most foods and also loose stool, not so much diahrea. I am really not all the certain I have the symptoms of "celiac". Thank you again for your answers I will be looking foward to your reply.
You may also want to run the rest of the bloodwork in the Celiac panel. You can have false negatives on the AGA IgA and EMA IgA test (as well as another Celiac test, tTG IgA) if you are IgA deficient.

An endoscopy is often a follow up procedure to confirm a positive diagnosis and rule in/out other conditions.
Your OB/GYN could probably order these other blood tests for you.

For me, yes... the biopsy was an easy procedure. I had it done in my GI's office... I had an IV of medication that would cause "conscious sedation" - but I don't remember anything. He said I was awake and watching for part of the time, but I really have no recollection.
My daughter had a repeat EGD on Friday. It took 10 minutes... they took multiple biospies (she's having additional issues we are trying to figure out). We went into the hospital at 7 and were home by 11.
I'm not sure any two Celiacs have the same issues. I'm one of those (gluten intol) who was overweight, not skinny as a rail. I could not LOSE weight until I got the gluten out of my system.

THANKS SO MUCH. BELEAVE IT OR NOT MY DOCTOR STILL HAS NOT CALLED ME BACK, MY BLOOD WORK HAS BEEN BACK FOR OVER A WEEK. SHE, I GUESS, DOES NOT THINK ITS A BIG DEAL. I AM REALLY ANNOYED. I AM NOT SURE IF I HAD MENTIONED THAT THE GLIADIN TEST WAS REPEATED TWICE AND SHE ALSO RAN ANTINUCLEAR ANTIBODIES THAT WERE NEGATIVE AND ANTI-DS DNA ANTIBODY THAT WAS HIGH, Also the Endomysial Antibodies test was negative. I ALWAYS THOUGHT ALL OF MY BLOATED AND PAINS WERE FROM JUST EATING FOOD IN GENERAL SO I NEVER THOUGHT OR EVEN KNEW OF THIS PROBLEM. THANK YOU AGAIN FOR ALL YOUR HELP. IF SHE DOES NOT CALL ME BACK BY TOMMAROW I WILL TAKE MY BLOODWORK TO ANOTHER DOCTOR.
