I had pretty much figured out my gluten issues came from my Mom's side of the family. From reading descriptions she sounded like a celiac as did her Mother. Both dead now. My Dad just called and my uncle is in the hospital with of all things...intestinal cancer. Wow! That just gives new motivation to sticking to this!! I need to talk my brother and his kids into getting tested now.

Yeah. Even for people who don't have traditional celiac eating gluten often causes degenerative diseases. Often people will become gluten intolerant whether they officially have celiac or not. Its good you are becoming more aware. Again I suggest more of a paleo diet. Especially for your uncle when he is well enough to eat!

It's so sad that this is the case in so many families.
