Latent Celiac?

Hey guys,

So I got the results from my biopsy back yesterday - negative - so my doctor is saying that what I have is "latent" celiac disease, which means that I have the antibodies but no intestinal damage (yet). He says that this could still appear later on in life, and that I will need another biopsy in another ten years. My question is, how does this account for the bloating, C problems I have been experiencing (sans villi damage)? Also, does this mean I should continue with my gluten free diet (which I have been doing anyway), and, as I have noticed a few people are wondering on this board, does an official diet really matter?

Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! :-)

I think it's ridiculous for a doctor to tell a patient they have celiac, but it's dormant. More or less, that is what they are saying when they say "latent". I have a friend who son is sick, and his doctor's told her that he has latent celiac and to keep him as gluten free as possible for now. I think that is terrible. The child needs to be totally gluten free in my mind and the minds of many others.

I think if you are gluten free now, I would stay gluten free.
