I've seen these question posted a million times before. But, now it's my turn... I don't "get" my Enterolab results.

Can someone please translate into PLAIN old "dummy English?"

Serologic equivalent: HLA-DQ 2,1 (Subtype 2,6)


Now, I understand that this means I have one Celiac gene and one gluten sensitivity gene. But, in my results... it says:



Do I have two copies? And, how would I be able to tell that?? I'm just wondering why it says that if I don't. Or, is that a standard reply.

When it says "having two copies" means having one Celiac and one non-celiac into gene. I think.

I think you're right. And of course, just having one celiac disease gene is bad enough, but having the gluten sensitive one as well will likely make it worse.

But you have been gluten-free already, right? If it makes you feel better, that is confirmation that you are doing the right thing.

The thing is.... now I have to get my 1st degree relatives (esp. my mother and sister) to understand that this confirms their NEED to be tested. I really hope they'll listen to me, now!

Even though it would be nice if they listened, there is no guarantee that they will. Some people just prefer not to know so they can keep on eating gluten, even if it will kill them in the end.

When I can afford it, I will have the gene test done too, for the same reason you had it done. But it may not do any good. But at least you can try. Just be sure not to be pushy about it, as then it is easier for them to tune you out.
